Goat 101 Financials: Hey, just going to share some thoughts for you to consider: You could purchase a CD for $5000.00 and hope you get 6% interest. That should give you at least $300.00 for the year. OR If you purchased 4 Does for $5000.00. Kid them out, you should get 8 kids. Lots of scenarios, BUT, we will be cheap and just figure you get 4 kids and sell them cheap for near sale barn prices of $500.00 each. Thus $2000.00. Livestock is gambling, but, odds are usually in your favor.

Hey, if you like them big, you need to check out Cheetah's Pride she weighed 200 lbs. on 24 January 2025. That was after she kidded on 19 December 2024 with a Buck and Doe. She produces good kids, her 2 Bucks 1197 and 1198 sold for $2500.00 EACH in 2022. Her Dam 590 Cheetah was one of our Show Does and was also a big framed doe. UPDATE: She weighed 193 lbs. on 5 Jan 2026.
9 July 2025 UPDATE: Just INFO her kids this year 1346 a Buck was sold to a family in Texas for $2500.00 and 1347 a Doe now in our keeper pen were the kids chosen as 1st place by the FFA judging team practice at Richland, MO and Rolla, MO this year.
12 March 2026 UPDATE: Cheetah's Pride produced more great kids on 16 Dec 2025 Buck 1389 had a .66 average daily gain on 29 Feb 26 and her Doe 1390 had a .55 ADG. So, you have to ask WHY do we offer one of our best producing does!! We simply need to seriously cut our herd DOWN and we have a couple more that we will also be offering. He weighed 44 lbs. on 19 Feb 25, giving him a .54 average daily gain. But, from 20 Jan to 19 Feb his ADG was .77, so, he is catching UP. His sire Bear Creek BC P1322 Chewbacca went to Texas and I think this Buck looks just like Chewie.
JUST INFO: I do not actually like to market young kids, BUT, when he is 6 months old I expect his price will be MORE.

UPDATE 20 September 2022: I wrote the Commercial Goat Operation 101 in 2020, see below. Lots of changes have happened in the market, most of them good. I have not changed the numbers, but, you will get the idea. A good Buck will pay for himself!!! Commercial Goat Operation 101 Consider your Kids normally weigh 50 lbs. when 3 months old New Buck cost $1500.00 Your Kids from new Buck now weigh 60 lbs. when 3 months old Market price is $3.00 per lb. UPDATE 03/28/2021 GREAT NEWS: I wrote this in 2020, this year 2021 I first heard price of $4.10 THEN heard $6.00 a pound. WOW a great time to be raising goats. You sell 50 kids: you now have i.e. 50 kids X 10 lbs = 500 MORE lbs to sell @ $3.00 per lb. This equals $1500.00, so your Buck is paid for the first year . This is just stuff to think about, your kids could weigh even more and/or you may have to upgrade some of your Doe’s to get where you want to go. If fast weight gain is your goal, it is cheaper to feed a good goat than a bad one. PLUS even your labor should be cut in half if you are selling kids at 3 months instead of 6 months. One more thing, you may want to pull the top kids and offer them as show prospects to the 4-H and FFA kids and that could easily pay for new buck #2. There are NO guarantees when raising Livestock except that someday they will die. A lot depends on weather, management and so much more, it is a continued learning experience. He goes back to our Joshua line thru his Sire Joshua's Reflection. Just an interesting note when his Dam Bear Creek BC Z465 Cathie's Clown was just a kid I wrote on her record, "walks wide". She stood out and of course complemented Joshua's Reflection to their creation of Harambe. We continue to be impressed with his kids!!
He placed 8th at the 2017 ABGA National Show in Grand Island, NE He currently has 46 ABGA Ennoblement Points. You can see more pictures on the Show Goats Page.

UPDATE 1 January 2026. Hey, IF anyone out there is looking for a Buck ready to breed, we will let Sandman go. ONLY because I am always looking for a new guy each year and he has done a GREAT job here. We have around 20 kids thus far for you to look at, 3 sets of triplets and another doe that we sold had a set of triplets. PLUS, we will be getting more kids sired by him very soon. I purchased him for his pedigree, 9 Ennoblements, he goes back to Sharon and Lee Dana's DBL-D Rockslide and Terry Taylors Trump Train. Reg # 10993145.
UPDATE 26 January 2026: We checked teats on 20 January 2026 and did not find any that were NOT show correct. Of course, they are tiny, lots of hair and we will check again later. But, it was a good start, NO split testicles and one parrot bite.
