Goat 101 Financials: Hey, just going to share some thoughts for you to consider: You could purchase a CD for $5000.00 and hope you get 6% interest. That should give you at least $300.00 for the year. OR If you purchased 4 Does for $5000.00. Kid them out, you should get 8 kids. Lots of scenarios, BUT, we will be cheap and just figure you get 4 kids and sell them cheap for near sale barn prices of $500.00 each. Thus $2000.00. Livestock is gambling, but, odds are usually in your favor.

She was in my keeper pen, but, it is getting too many in there due to me wanting to keep some of Smoke Show's kids. So, take a look at her!! We took 4 does and 4 bucks to Richland and Rolla for the FFA kids judging team to practice judging and both she and her brother placed first. You can see her sire, 1304, on the Herdsire Page, but, it is way down i.e. page 3; then her dam, 1116, is on the Does for sale page.
UPDATE: 1347 was introduced to Bear Creek BC R1369 Hello Darlin on 1 October 2025. She will sell as exposed. She weighed 121 lbs. on 29 Sep 2025.

She has one big and one small teat widely separated on each side. She weighed 98 lbs. on 20 August 2025 giving her a .40 average daily gain. I like this Doe ALOT, here sister 1361 was also nice and went to Texas. She has beautiful breed character; big bone; level top, long gentle sloping hooks to pins for easy kidding AND a bootie.

She has a wry tail that will not allow her to show in a ABGA Sanctioned Show, BUT, she should do well in a county show. She has beautiful breed character, big bone, big hip, level top, wide and balanced. I have never had or seen a wry tail before, but, she has one. She weighed 106 lbs. on 20 August 2025 giving her a .47 average daily gain.

UPDATE 20 September 2022: I wrote the Commercial Goat Operation 101 in 2020, see below. Lots of changes have happened in the market, most of them good. I have not changed the numbers, but, you will get the idea. A good Buck will pay for himself!!! Commercial Goat Operation 101 Consider your Kids normally weigh 50 lbs. when 3 months old New Buck cost $1500.00 Your Kids from new Buck now weigh 60 lbs. when 3 months old Market price is $3.00 per lb. UPDATE 03/28/2021 GREAT NEWS: I wrote this in 2020, this year 2021 I first heard price of $4.10 THEN heard $6.00 a pound. WOW a great time to be raising goats. You sell 50 kids: you now have i.e. 50 kids X 10 lbs = 500 MORE lbs to sell @ $3.00 per lb. This equals $1500.00, so your Buck is paid for the first year . This is just stuff to think about, your kids could weigh even more and/or you may have to upgrade some of your Doe’s to get where you want to go. If fast weight gain is your goal, it is cheaper to feed a good goat than a bad one. PLUS even your labor should be cut in half if you are selling kids at 3 months instead of 6 months. One more thing, you may want to pull the top kids and offer them as show prospects to the 4-H and FFA kids and that could easily pay for new buck #2. There are NO guarantees when raising Livestock except that someday they will die. A lot depends on weather, management and so much more, it is a continued learning experience. He goes back to our Joshua line thru his Sire Joshua's Reflection. Just an interesting note when his Dam Bear Creek BC Z465 Cathie's Clown was just a kid I wrote on her record, "walks wide". She stood out and of course complemented Joshua's Reflection to their creation of Harambe. We continue to be impressed with his kids!!
He placed 8th at the 2017 ABGA National Show in Grand Island, NE He currently has 46 ABGA Ennoblement Points. You can see more pictures on the Show Goats Page.
UPDATE: 19 October 2020 ShowMe Genetic Services located in Strafford, MO collected Harambe. They said his semen was excellent!!!! We are offering a few straws of semen for $100.00 each.
